Indian companies have started reimbursing for medical expenses incurred on infertility treatments. This is a very promising development, and will help to make IVF treatment more easily accessible to many more infertile couples in India. Hopefully other companies will follow their lead, as will insurance companies !

All Employees Reimbursement of Medical Expenses towards Invitro Fertilisation (IVF) in case of Primary Infertility under Ex-Gratia Medical Assistance Scheme
We are pleased to inform that treatment for in Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) will be reimbursable under Ex-Gratia Medical Assistance Scheme, for workmen w.e.f. 01.07.1998, as per the guidelines given below :-
Reimbursement will be made in cases of primary Infertility i.e. there has been no conception by other methods of medical treatment. Full case history of all other treatments tried but not successful to be submitted alongwith the claim.
Reimbursements will be given to childless couples and that too only for the first child.
Reimbursement for IVF Treatment (Inclusive of medicines, day care, surgical procedures, etc. as per the schedule of rates applicable) will be upto a maximum limit of Rs. 45,000/- per cycle.
Reimbursement of IVF Treatment will be limited upto a maximum of 3 cycles.
Reimbursements for IVF Treatment based on the above guidelines will be effective from 01.07.1998.
